Transforming Center welcomes David Hughes as Executive Director
The Transforming Center is excited to announce that as of October 1, Rev. Dr. David Hughes has joined our team as full-time Executive Director!
David’s commitment to the Transforming Center and his conviction about the significance of this ministry is deep and longstanding. He says, “I am convinced the Transforming Center is at the forefront of a movement desperately needed by the 21st century church, and I am honored to have the opportunity to help lead it.”
David’s role will be to work directly with Transforming Center founder, Ruth Haley Barton, to oversee the day to day operations of the Transforming Center, and spearhead fundraising and donor development. He will also help with teaching and pastoral leadership in our Transforming Communities, serve as professor of record for Northern Seminary students, and partner with Ruth in the continued development of the Transforming Church® initiative.
Ruth will remain fully engaged in the ministry of the Transforming Center–providing leadership in discerning vision and strategy, cultivating our essence and identity, and developing new content and programming. She will continue to be the primary teacher and spiritual director in all our Transforming Communities.
About David Hughes
David is not a stranger to the Transforming Center, he was a member of Transforming Community 3 and then has gone on to help lead Transforming Communities 4 and 8. He has served as a TC board member since 2009 and has also contributed eReflections articles.
David holds an MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary, a PhD from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and comes to us after thirty-six years of ordained pastoral ministry–twenty-two of which were spent at First Baptist Church of Winston-Salem. We’re very grateful for our relationship with First Baptist and their generosity in this transition.
