Transforming Center Announces Academic Partnership with Northern Seminary and Dr. Ruth Haley Barton joins Northern as Professor of Spiritual Transformation
Former Northern student and founder of the Transforming Center, Ruth Haley Barton, was awarded with an honorary doctorate for her years of fruitful ministry in the areas of spiritual formation and direction at this year’s commencement ceremony. In conjunction with the conferral of this degree, Dr. Barton joins Northern Seminary’s faculty as Adjunct Professor of Spiritual Formation.
One significant result of Ruth’s addition to Northern’s faculty is the formation of a partnership between the Transforming Center and Northern Seminary. The Transforming Center’s mission to see churches and Christian organizations become communities of authentic spiritual transformation, beginning with transformed leaders, is a perfect match for Northern’s own mission of “Equipping the Church to change the world.”
Beginning this summer, pastors and other Christian leaders who join a Transforming Community (more about these here) will also have the opportunity to apply these experiences toward a graduate Certificate or degree program through Northern Seminary.

I am greatful for the efforts you are taking to train spiritual leaders. My challenge is that our church is still young and however how willing they are to support me on studies, they have not been able.
Commit me to the Lord on fee, am so willing to study. We are celebrating our 2nd anniversary this June.
